LEGO Ideas Team: New Brick and Minifigure Limits

Yesterday, the LEGO Ideas team announced some changes to the way model proposals are submitted. It is now possible to submit models with up to 5,000 pieces on the LEGO Ideas platform. Among other things, LEGO expects more detail in the designs.

Previously, the upper limit was 3,000 parts. Also new is a lower limit of 200 parts. Concepts below this limit can no longer be submitted.

Additionally, the LEGO Ideas team has published a guide of sorts intended to help answer the question of how many minifigures could be included in a potential LEGO Ideas set in the future.

According to the new specifications, a model proposal with 999 parts can contain up to six minifigures. According to the table, for a decoration idea of ​​4,999 pieces, there can be no more than 14 figures.

More details = higher quality?

With the new brick and minifigure limits, the LEGO Ideas team is probably hoping for a higher quality of submitted designs. But do more details or more decorative parts automatically lead to higher quality model designs? I'm still a bit undecided. The new rules will definitely lead to more interesting submissions (at least I hope so). Either way, future LEGO Ideas sets will no longer be cheaper.
