LEGO ASTERIX & OBELIX
Aktie
The Romans occupied all of Gaul. All of Gaul? No! A village populated by unyielding Gauls continues to resist the invader, so they managed to end up in the LEGO Ideas Review as well.
This project is based on the comic series by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. My first Asterix The Gaul project had its origins in their following books: Astérix le Gaulois (1961) and Le Combat des Chefs (1963) and on the film adaptations Astérix contra Caesar (1986) and Astérix & Obélix contre César (1999). But in the end I was inspired by all the comic books and films... the good news is that a new film will be released in 2023: Astérix & Obélix et L'Empire du Milieu and a new comic book album (based on the film)! There will be a new Asterix and Obelix animated series in 2024, so I changed the title of the project from Asterix the Gaul to Asterix & Obelix! Because they are each other's best friends and one can't live without the other!
I have been a fan of Lego and Asterix & Obelix since I was a child. So one and one is two! Here's a combination of both of my favorites: Lego Asterix & Obelix! To make this dream come true, we are asking 10,000 supporters to come forward. This project was made possible by the incredible work of Rolf Smit (photo design), Peter de Smet (print design for some minifigures) and Péter Szalay (print design for the new Idéfix). Here is a description of the Asterix & Obelix Lego Ideas project.
Story
A Roman spy Bondus is sent to the forest near the village of Asterix and Obelix. The soldier must capture the druid Panoramix. Because the druid's potion makes the Gauls invisible. The old and wise Panoramix often goes into the forest to look for some ingredients for the magic potion. He is especially interested in finding mistletoe. Can you help Asterix and Obelix prevent Panoramix from being captured?
Playing the story
The Roman spy Bondus (of Asterix & The Big Fight fame) can be found waiting quietly in a tree trunk close to the tree where the druid Panoramix usually looks for his mistletoe. Can you help Panoramix with his golden sickle to obtain this very important ingredient for the potion?
When the Roman spy succeeds in conquering Panoramix with the help of the Gallic villain Xynix, Asterix must go to the Roman camp Petibonum. To get there secretly, he can use the help of the friendly ox trader (le marchand du boeuf from the first comic: Asterix the Gaul). It is possible to hide our Gallic hero Asterix in the bundle of hay that the merchant carries on his cart.
Obelix can deliver a menhir to anyone who has ordered one. I made it possible to attach a menhir to his buildable body. There are also alternate normal legs for Obelix to make him sit or pose. He may be accompanied by his dog: Idéfix. Or Idéfix goes hunting with Obelix for a wild boar near the dolmen (stone on tree). The wild boar is a small buildable animal. Besides, Idéfix can be easily distracted when he goes home over the bridge with Obelix, because an interesting frog is watching him from the stream that flows through the village.
Asterix can invite his best friend Obelix, Panoramix, Idéfix and other Gallic friends to his house to eat roasted wild boar with baguette and croissant as side dishes (small nod to the country of Asterix's origin: France). You can light the fire in the chimney. Don't forget to turn the spit every now and then to prepare Obelix's next meal! Be sure to leave a bone or more for Idéfix! The Gauls can also eat outside. The table and chairs can be removed from the hut and placed in front of the lawn. It is also possible to roast the wild boar over a bonfire that can also be lit.
When entering the hut, look to the right and you will see a wooden tray with some nice items reminiscent of Asterix's travels to Egypt and Rome.
Panoramix can prepare its magic potion in the house, in the fireplace under the chimney. He can give his potion to Asterix there or he can also give it to other Gauls outside. But remember: Obelix can't have any of it, because when he was a baby he fell into the cauldron full of magic potion! He'll most likely stand in line and try to get it anyway...
Asterix, Obelix and Idéfix may also encounter a Roman patrol in the forest. It only means one thing! Ils sont fous des Romains! Strange guys, those Romans! A battle ensues and Obelix is able to collect their helmets as a souvenir.
Basic idea
Asterix's Hut and Obelix's Hut are the main structures of this set idea. These cabins are based on the designs of the late Albert Uderzo. Asterix's cabin was present from the beginning of his great adventures, but Obelix's house appeared late in the comic series. Both houses are accompanied by some set pieces to complete the environment of the buildings. These smaller builds add more nature and color to this product idea. It exudes the atmosphere of the Gallic world that Goscinny and Uderzo have created. All builds together give the Lego fan a piece of Asterix's world in his or her own home.

To get more space to play with the minifigures in the huts, I made the hut in two parts. Asterix's cabin has a front panel, a back panel, and an interior or chimney panel. One could place the front and back panel together to close off the house for display purposes or one could slide the back panel away and slide the chimney panel behind the front panel for play purposes. Obelix's cabin consists of two parts, the front and the back, which can be clicked together with a technical pin.
Furthermore, there is an oak and a dolmen from Panoramix, a merchant's hay cart with shelter, a small pool with a small waterfall and a bridge with an interesting treasure belonging to Assurancetourix, the bard, and the bonfire to serve the magic potion or for roasting a wild boar.
Minifigures
For a set like this, at least Asterix, Obelix, Panoramix (his original 'French' name, the English version is 'Getafix'), the ox trader, the fishmonger Ordalfabetix, Xynix the fortune teller and the spy Bondus, the iconic Roman legionnaire in a tree trunk.
