LEGO The Neverending Story
A new set design reached the 3rd review phase 2022 at LEGO Ideas . The Neverending Story (40th Anniversary) design collected the required 10,000 fan votes after 264 days, making it the 19th model in the current review phase. The model comes from Roberto Ceruti and Jody Padulano, who are behind the FACEBRICKUP account.
The LEGO set is based on the German-American fantasy film The Neverending Story (original title: The Neverending Story) from 1984. The construction shows the lucky dragon Fuchs, which is mounted on a tripod so that it looks as if it is really flying. The film is based on the 1979 novel of the same name by Michael Ende, although the film only shows a small fragment of the novel.
In addition to the dragon, the three main figures Bastian Balthasar Bux, the childish empress and AtrƩju and AtrƩju's horse Artax are also available as minifigures in the set. Since only Falkor is constructed from building blocks, I assume that the set must consist of about 500-750 parts. However, an exact number is not known.
We really like the design, it only shows the main characters of the film, but not much else. A small set suitable for the film. However, we wonder if the set could actually have a chance. We have no doubt that this is a classic film that many people will remember from their childhood. But whether the hype around the film is still great at the moment, it could well become a set. We're not sure and don't think the set will have a chance despite its small size.
