Another design has cracked 10,000 fan votes on LEGO Ideas. the working planetarium of "Lego_Monkey" managed to convince enough fans after 253 days, making it the 9th version in the 2nd review phase in 2022. A planetary construction is a mechanical planetary construction that illustrates the orbit of the planets in our solar system.
Some models also show other celestial bodies, such as the moons of the planets. LEGO Ideas Working Planetarium LEGO Ideas Working Planetarium LEGO Ideas Working Planetarium has the sun, earth and moon built on a vintage/antique style base. The moon revolves around the earth while the earth revolves around the sun. The mechanics are built into the base, which consists of a square box imitating an old wooden box. The system is rotated by a crank at the front using gears.
The rotation is not timed and therefore not exactly accurate, but the hobby designer was more concerned with creating a nice exhibition. The goal of this model was not to create a 100 percent accurate scientific model of a planetarium, but to build something that looks great yet is functional.
In total, the working planetarium is 33 cm long, 18.8 cm wide and 28.5 cm high. The design consists of 1,388 LEGO bricks in 16 colors and features a combination of Technic and System bricks.
We are fans of the universe and the planets, so we naturally find the model super exciting. We think the basics of the design are very well done. We don't mind that the functionality is not 100 percent consistent, it is a nice model to look at.
To be honest, we would have preferred if the model was just the Earth and the moon.
