LEGO House: Paper bag instead of polybag

The small plastic foil bags, containing several or a few LEGO blocks, have been a great success for fans of Danish clamp-on building blocks for decades. Every year at least one polybag is released for almost every current LEGO themed world - much to the delight of many collectors. But everyone probably knows that plastic bags don't last forever. In recent years, the bags in the various LEGO magazines have been replaced by paper bags. This fate will probably also befall the popular polybags in the near future. Then we will probably have to get used to the word 'paperbag'.

LEGO House tests the new paper Polybag

At the end of January 2023, the time had come: the press team of the LEGO House in Billund quietly and secretly adapted a small article on its website with another paragraph and a few photos from the so-called ā€œRed Zoneā€. At the end of the Red Zone and therefore at the end of the LEGO House tour is a brick shaping machine, which has already been released as its own exclusive LEGO House set with number 40502 . This exact machine was rebuilt early this year. The six red LEGO blocks remained, but the packaging was changed from foil to paper.

This means that every LEGO House visitor can now take home the new paper bag with the number 6509887 as a souvenir.

ā€œThese stones make a perfect souvenir and are now offered in our new, more sustainable paper packaging. As part of the LEGO Group's commitment to sustainability, we are switching to paper bags for our boxed bags worldwide.ā€ (LEGO House website).

LEGO House 6 bricks (6509887) in a paper bag

LEGO Fan Simon ( Instagram profile ) was able to take the opportunity last weekend to take home one of the new paper bags as a souvenir from the LEGO House. Simon was kind enough to send us a few photos of the new collectible.

The new paper bag number 6509887 replaces the exclusive LEGO House polybag number 624210. Apart from the new packaging, nothing has changed - the contents still consist of the six red 2x4 LEGO bricks.

This is certainly just the beginning and in the future other polybags will also appear in the LEGO House, such as the Build Your Meal or the exclusive polybag for the children's menu in the Mini Chef, with the new paper packaging. But the normal LEGO polybags for the themed worlds will also change the packaging from foil to paper - it's probably only a matter of time.
