LEGO Roman Temple Ideas

A new round begins on LEGO Ideas. After only 51 models have just completed the 2nd Review Phase 2022, the 3rd Review Phase 2022 will begin immediately. Once again, each model must collect 10,000 fan votes so that it can enter the coveted review phase for a chance to win a production release.

The first candidate of the 3rd assessment phase 2022 is the ancient Roman temple of HP_Brixxter (Dániel Kurucz), who only recently sent his ancient Greek temple to the 2nd assessment phase. So he can be all the more pleased that this concept has received enough attention after 337 days and has ended up in the review.

The Roman temples have many similarities with ancient Greek architecture, but there are also some differences. Roman temples usually stood on a pedestal with a single staircase leading to the front of the building. The iconic triangular pediment was supported by a colonnade of Corinthian order. The same applies to Greek temples, although there the colonnade rarely enclosed the entire building. In many cases the front colonnade was continued in half columns. Old buildings are usually depicted in white in contemporary art. Only the white marble remained because the organic paint used two millennia ago decayed over time. Nevertheless, these buildings were indeed richly painted, mostly in crimson red with brightly colored reliefs on the facades.

The design of the ancient Roman temple is a historically accurate minifigure scale representation of a typical late Republican/early Imperial Roman temple. The main sources of inspiration for the model were the Maison Carrée in France and the temple of the Sbeitla Forum in Tunisia. The temple is built modularly. The roof can be easily removed to reveal a detailed interior. In addition, the doors can be opened.

The ancient Roman temple consists of approximately 2,700 parts and includes four minifigures: two guards, a senator and a patrician.
