LEGO 79007 Battle of the Black Gate

LEGO 79007 Battle at the Black Gate is a set in the theme The Lord of the Rings released in June 2013. Top set from LEGO The Lord Of The Rings

The set contains a black knight, a small tower and the black gate, which can be opened and closed. The gate also features a locking mechanism, which locks the two gates at the back together. The set contains five minifigures. The Mouth of Sauron is currently exclusive to this set, as are the included variants of Gandalf and Aragorn. Also included are two Mordor Orcs. A large eagle is also present in the set.

After the army of Mordor was defeated at the Pelennor Fields, Aragorn led an army of the remaining soldiers of Rohan and Gondor to the Black Gate to divert Sauron's attention so that he would not see Frodo. When Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf, Pippin, Merry, Éomer and the army arrived at the gate. In the book and expanded edition of the film, Sauron's mouth came out and tried to trick them into thinking Frodo was dead and convince them to surrender. Aragorn killed the Mouth of Sauron, and then the Black Gate opened, releasing a large army of Orcs. During the battle, the Great Eagles arrived and killed many Fell Beasts. The battle continued and the soldiers of Rohan and Gondor were on the verge of losing, but the Ring was eventually destroyed, causing the soldiers of Mordor to lose their minds. Gandalf led the eagles to rescue Frodo and Sam from Mount Doom.
