LEGO Fortnite safety
LEGO Fortnite allows eight players to dive into one world at the same time, and having a community is the best way to play the game. Players work together to build, harvest, collect and overcome challenges. Every player is stronger and better with friends.
In Fortnite it has each island has an age rating, and you can determine which islands your child can visit based on that rating. Fortnite has extensive in-game parental controls that allow adults to manage their child's experience. Any platform the game is available on, for example PlayStationÂź, Xbox, Nintendo SwitchâąÂ and Windows â also offers its own parental controls.
With the parental supervision from Epic Games, you can control access to social features (like voice chat), require a parental control PIN for purchases, and set up additional controls. You can access it online via the Epic's account portal, but also in-game via the Parental Controls menu in Fortnite. Here's how to access that menu in the game:
- Fire up Fortnite
- Open the main menu (which looks like three horizontal lines) and select the gear icon.
- Select Parental Controls from the menu that loads.
Epic's parental controls require you to set a six-digit PIN via the Epic account portal or the Parental Controls menu in Fortnite. The PIN code ensures that only you can make changes to the settings.
From the account portal, parents and guardians can customize their parental controls to create an age-appropriate experience for each family member. Key features of parental controls include:
-
Voice and text chat permissions:Â You can manage who your child can talk to through Epic's voice and text chat. You can select options like 'Friends Only', which allows your child to only talk to other players on their Epic friends list and Platform friends list, or you can disable chat completely.
-
Purchase settings:Â You can choose to require your parental control PIN to be entered before making real money purchases with Epic Checkout.
-
To require your PIN for friend requests:Â You have the option to require your PIN to be entered before your child can send or accept Epic friend requests.
Note: If your child plays on a console, you may also need to set parental controls for purchases, communication restrictions, and more in that environment. For example, if you turn off voice chat in Fortnite, your child may still be able to access voice chat through the chat system built into the console.
The community rules from Epic contain clear guidelines for how all players should behave within the environment, and with the voice reporting function Fortnite allows anyone to submit audio evidence so that Epic can take action against other players who use voice chat to bully, harass, or engage in other inappropriate behavior. For players under 18, the feature is automatically enabled in voice chats. You can Also view the voice reporting settings in-game via Fortnite's audio menu.
