LEGO 910028 Pursuit of Flight

This small kinetic sculpture (LEGO 910028) is designed to celebrate the history and wonder of flight. It features several aircraft styles from the early days of aviation history, when engineers and pilots fearlessly pushed the boundaries of what was possible.

Two of the planes can be mounted on the motion stand and a crank on the side can be turned to move the planes back and forth. The planes tilt as they move, creating the illusion that they are flying gracefully through the air.

Forced perspective – with clouds below and a micro-scale rural landscape – is used to enhance the effect of the planes flying high in the sky.

Although these planes are smaller than minifigure scale, I have included minifigure heads for the pilots in some of the planes as I think this adds a bit of character to the model.
