LEGO NO LONGER USES “SLAVE” OR “BULLET” IN THE SET NAME!

Last weekend some of the new LEGO® Star Wars were officially unveiled and we noticed some strange names on Boba Fett's iconic ship. Instead of being called "Slave I", it bears the snappy name of Boba Fett's Starship. It appears the reason for this is solely due to Disney, who has asked the LEGO Group and a number of other merchandise partners to drop the "Slave" name from products featuring the bounty hunter ride. But this isn't the first time a LEGO set has had a name that doesn't fit what many fans would think it should be called. Here's a quick look at some other LEGO sets with different names.

75292: The Mandalorian Bounty Hunter Transport, aka The Razor Crest

The Mandalorian has been a cultural phenomenon since it first appeared on Disney+ in 2019. It's no surprise that the character and vehicles from the series have inspired a number of products, including many LEGO sets. One of the most famous is Mando's ship The Razor Crest. Despite the LEGO sets being based on the ship named on the box, the product listing is "The Mandalorian Bounty Hunter Transport". This name change is due to someone registering a trademark on the name Razor Crest in Germany, in connection with a MOC inspired by the ship. It has been reported that Disney rightfully fought the trademark and regained the name, but the set's listing still bears the generic name.



Some ships are less known for their names in Star Wars, so they also have a more generic name. This often uses the name of the characters instead of the name of the ship that may have been briefly mentioned in the official Star Wars films. Here are just a few.

75286: The spaceship of General Grievous, also known as The Soulless One

71366: Boomer Bill Barrage, also known as Bullet Bill, Banzai Bill or Bombshell Bill

In the Mushroom Kingdom, a number of iconic Mario enemies have been transformed into various LEGO play sets and characters. We've been playing the Mario games for many, many years, but even we were confused by the term Boomer Bill. We assume it was a character from one of the more recent titles. But no, the name Boomer Bill does not officially exist in the Mario universe. The character is best known as Bullet Bill and sometimes Banzai or Bombshell Bill. We can only assume that it was inappropriate to use terms like bullet or banzai on products aimed at children.
