LEGO 8630 Gold Hunt 2

8630 Mission 3: Gold Hunt is a LEGO Agents set released in 2008 and designed by LEGO employee Mark Stafford. It comes with a jet piloted by Agent Fuse, a fast jeep with Gold Tooth and an Inferno Henchman, and a trailer with "gold" bars in it. The jet contains two launch missiles designed to hit a catapult on the trailer and knock off the stolen gold.

The supersonic fighter jet
The jet
The Supersonic Jet is mainly dark blue and silver, with several yellow lines and stripes on the wings. It has two sets of wings, one smaller than the other, on each side. The larger wings are located at the back of the jet and the smaller ones at the front. At the end of each larger wing is a rocket that can be clipped on or removed. Under the wings and on each side are large, firing cannons that can be activated by pulling back a small rod.

Two dark blue dorsal fins are located at the back and are angled away from each other. Both have a sticker with the silver and lime green Agents symbol. The jet has a single engine, consisting of a horizontal dark gray barrel section. The fuselage, cockpit and nose are silver with various decals of darker exhaust panels and details. The cockpit fits Agent Fuse and a control joystick. The awning glass can be easily removed and installed, but does not open. The nose of the jet is conical and consists of two parts.

The jeep
The Jeep is black and orange - Dr.'s signature colors. Inferno - and has a unique design not seen on other LEGO vehicles. Notable designs include the SNOT technology used on the sides of the Jeep and the fact that there appear to be two narrow windshields - one for the passenger side and the other for the driver's side - rather than one that extends across the front of the car spreads. . Interestingly, while there is room for a minifigure on the passenger side, the Inferno Henchman actually sits behind the cabin on a seat protected only by two short "walls" on either side of it. The chair can rotate 360 degrees. Another unique feature of the jeep is the wheels and their connection to the body: springs and TECHNIC parts allow the wheels to adapt to rough and rocky terrain and move up and down without shocking the rest of the car. These springs act as shock absorbers and also raise the level of the car high above the wheels in relation to most. The hood of the car opens to reveal previously hidden missiles.

The truck
There are two adjustable side mirrors, one on each side, large enough to accommodate a sticker with Dr. Inferno to stick on. This symbol is also spread across the hood of the car. There are no doors, just rigid pieces that keep the minifigure inside. The only way to get the driver out is to take off the side windshield and take him out. Behind the grille on one side is a walkie-talkie and behind the other is a gray shovel. The car's bumper has both transparent orange and clear pieces for headlights and has a dark gray grill.

At the rear of the jeep there is a removable "wagon" with two wheels that can be connected with a ball joint. This cart contains the gold bars that, in the story, Gold Tooth stole. It has orange and red taillights. The gold bars are placed on a small catapult with a target. When the guns under the supersonic jet are fired and hit the target, the catapult comes into action and the gold bars are launched from the jeep. The gold bars themselves are connected to a single plate, only two of which are not attached with studs.

Background
The comic storyline on the box features Gold Tooth and an Inferno Henchman stealing gold from an Amazon temple as Agent Fuse gives chase.

Piloted by Agent Fuse, the Jet Plane is equipped with dual Seeker X-1 long-range missile launchers and a precision targeting system that allows it to hit even the smallest target. Fuse's job is to recover the gold bars before Gold Tooth and company can return them to Dr. Inferno, who would melt them down for his final deadly plan. Fuse fails his mission and Gold Tooth gets away with the gold.

Notes
A redesigned Inferno truck was seen in 2854298 The Adventures of Clutch Powers, built by Bernie Von Beam.
This set was featured in level 3 of the online Agents game.
The Inferno truck was also featured in The Robot Chronicles.
